Accelerated Degree Programs of Asian College of Teachers

What is an Accelerated Program?

If you have been looking for jobs that offer a considerable potential for development, then you have probably observed that employers are more likely to offer rewarding roles to applicants who at least hold a college degree. Nevertheless, college can be quite a daunting experience for many individuals, especially for those who have to start working by the final year, and study and cater to their family obligations at the same time. If you are one of those who are worried about these factors of college, we have a solution for you. If you are looking for a study program which will give you the flexibility to work around your schedule then our accelerated college degree program is apt for you. You can find the details about the college program alongside its benefits.

Accelerated Degree Program: Pros

One of the biggest advantages of an accelerated program is that it speeds up a student’s journey to graduate from college and step onto the workforce. In other words, you will be able to find a job and start earning money faster than a regular student. To enhance the speed further, accelerated programs typically consist of shorter periods for classes with quarters or terms taking anywhere from between 5 and 12 weeks to complete. This flexibility will allow you to fit your studies into your busy work schedule. Comparatively, conventional programs are done in semesters, that is, more time is consumed for each course.

Additionally, accelerated programs also provide flexibility with regards to scheduling classes, and are more economical. Generally, some enhanced programs are less costly compared to the conventional programs and are developed using adaptable scheduling options to add to the learners’ comfort. Adult learners with round-the-clock jobs and families find enhanced degree programs extremely beneficial.

Accelerated Degree Program: Cons

In spite of the important benefits, accelerated programs are not for everyone. Eventually, these programs require a considerable amount of time and energy invested in them than courses that are conventionally-paced as the accelerated programs have to be finished within a short time span, which means that the program is of high intensity. While the prospect of earning a degree faster may seem to be extremely lucrative, it can often turn out to be highly taxing and stressful for learners who already have a lot on their plate. Significantly, getting acquainted with technical concepts like math and computer science requires more time, and learning these in a compressed fashion should be avoided.

Since the accelerated programs will contain the same number of courses with the same amount of coursework as a traditional four-year program, some students may find it too burdensome. Lengthier semesters may be of more advantage to some learners as they give students more time to study and learn each subject thoroughly. Nonetheless, in certain instances, it comes down to your personality traits and favoured learning style. If you work well in a fast-paced environment and thrive on fast-approaching deadlines, the potential disadvantages of an accelerated degree program may not be disadvantages at all.

Advantages of opting for an Accelerated Degree Program

Accelerated degree programs are extremely beneficial for individuals from any background. Most importantly, these programs provide enough flexibility, saving time while they finish their degrees and join the workforce at a rapid pace. Anyone wondering why and how these courses are highly effective and useful, mentioned here are some additional benefits to consider:

  • Faster career changes
  • Quicker career advancement
  • Cost savings
  • Better class scheduling choices
  • Less downtime during summers and school breaks

Guidelines for Prospering in an Accelerated Degree Program

Students enrolled in an accelerated program need to be consistent and dedicated in order to reach their goals as these programs are fast and intensive.

Firstly, learners will be willing to know whether they can transfer credits from any other institutes attended by them, from placement examinations or any work-experience. This will benefit them in saving more time, cutting down course durations to two years or less.

Secondly, students will need some self-motivation to sail through the classes and heavy workloads that come with it. They should use their time extensively, chalk-out schedules that aptly aligns with their academic and work, and personal responsibilities along with their academic objectives and should be ready to alter their class-loads if things are not working out properly.

Thirdly, it would be sensible to start these programs when the other aspects of life become slow paced. For instance, planning for a wedding, preparing to become parents, or joining a new job are not the best times to commit to this workload.

Fourthly, candidates have a tendency to benefit the most when they get to have face-to-face interactions with the professors in order to clear their doubts and gather clarity around some of the learning topics. This actually needs to be made possible even with online classes. To know which instructors are the best and most appropriate for the learners’ precise requirements, students should ask their peers for any recommendations and even reach out to instructors before the beginning of the classes. Once the class/es begins, it still is important to reach out to the educators regularly to get an impression of what they are looking for in-class course work and to get additional help. This will allow learners to remain on the same page as the instructor’s expectations, and increase their possibilities for achieving better grades.

Finally, it is essential for learners to think of caring for themselves during this time. Some idle time is also important, and individuals need to be sure to find some time each week for relaxation. They choose to go out with their friends, and take care of their mental and personal wellbeing in the process.

While an accelerated degree program may not be suitable for everyone, it provides individuals with a budget restriction but ample commitment and dedication with the prospect to progress and to lay their hands on the degrees quickly. When getting on board with these accelerated programs, it is vital for individuals to note that the modules can sometimes be quite immense, and the assignments often turn out to be a bit daunting with overlapping deadlines for various modules. But those who press through will be capable of becoming vital parts of the workforce in significantly less time than it appeared to be.

Accelerated programs are not designed for all and some individuals might find it difficult to cope with the pressure that comes with the routine. However, if you are willing to go to college and get a degree as quickly as possible, it is not impossible if you work hard and with dedication. It will save you money and get you into the workplace much faster than the typical 4-year Bachelor’s degree or a 2-year Master’s degree.

I have completed my PG Diploma in TEFL/TESOL and continued my Master's with specialization in Educational Administration with ACT and EIU. My learning experiences with ACT have been phenomenal. I have been well guided by my instructors at all times and it has been a pleasure to be an alumni of this institute. After my PG Diploma I was appointed as an English teacher at a school I have been trying for many years and within 3 years of working I was promoted to the Head of the English Department as soon as I completed my Master's. The knowledge I have gained through these programs have been very helpful in my career and my creativity as a teacher and now a team leader. I am planning to continue my Doctorate at the same institute but still looking for guidance as to which field to take... But will start very soon.

It was a great experience taking up this course. Initially, I was skeptical about taking the course given my situation having a one year old kid to take care of along with my household chores and office work. When I started this course, I was not even sure if I would be able to make it. But then the course materials were very easy to follow and with the feedback on each assignment given by the course instructor I was able to complete the course with a first class grade. This course was structured very well and real time examples in each module helped me understand things better. For an aspiring teacher like me, this course was really useful. It helped me understand the future of education and teaching.
